His Dark Materials Season 2
Category Description

A single spot prominently featuring motion design created to promote a television or streaming show

Project Description

Season 2 of this epic His Dark Materials trilogy explores monumental topics of physics, philosophy, theology, and the very nature of human existence.

The production phase took roughly eight to ten weeks, and included periods of nearly around-the-clock work that were necessary due to some of the technical and creative challenges presented by the project. Accomplishing this feat took a complex mix of unparalleled artistry, mathematics, engineering, and technical problem-solving. The final look of the piece is a beautiful blend of traditional motion techniques and cutting-edge CG, design and VFX workflows.

As such, it required a team comprising a vast array of competencies, including matte painters, 3D modelers, designers, 2d animators, Cinema 4D artists, Houdini dynamics experts, and world class compositors.

Over the course of a few months, we created a beautiful metaphor for free thinking, and an homage to the inquiring mind.
